Richard Veal
Excellent capture Trish.
Wish I lived near you, so I could go with you on shoots like this. :-))
Trish Woodford replied
Thanks Richard, this one was just at the back of the surf club in daylight and then I added some texture layers. You have such wonderful historic buildings and architecture over your side of the world, I’m often envious :)
Delany Dean

Wow! Thats really really cool! You have done a fantastic job on this Trish, the lighting is fantastic, it has a haunted, almost sad feel to it. Very captivating, I’ve been looking at it for quite a while! :-)
Trish Woodford replied
What a wonderful comment Jon, so glad it translated to eerie & haunted which was my aim. It was a daylight shot and I added 3 different texture layers and played with the contrast levels a little. This one and the train tracks were both shots that were originally just ok, I probably wouldn’t have put them up. Once I figured out the textures thing I knew they would probably be good candidates. Thanks again Jon for your great comment :)
Sharon K. Shubert

I’ve been looking through your portfolio, and could have faved any of them. I chose this because it’s recent and I wanted a platform to comment on your work generally. I have to spend more time with it, but I sense a theme – which fascinates me as much as versatility does. In yours I am beginning to sense a theme of emptiness (not in a bad way), things forgotten, neglected, a mood that while flirting with desolation never capitulates to it. Your work is very complex, and I’m going to enjoy studying it more to better articulate what I (of course it’s all subjective) think may be driving your vision.
Trish Woodford replied
Hi Kevin, thanks so much for taking the time to study my portfolio and to share your thoughts. I only took up photography a few months back and even in that short time I do feel I have definitely evolved a little. When I look at the first half of my shots compared to the second half I can see that I am definitely drawn to the types of shots you described as well as candids. I think with the old, broken, neglected ones when I look thru the lens to compose the shot I get an immediate sense of mood, atmosphere and a story which I don’t see so much with more modern things or landscapes and flowers (although others capture mood very well in those areas). I love it when an image speaks or evokes emotion and I guess that’s essentially what I am trying to achieve with those shots. Likewise with candid’s I love the unposed ‘moment in time’. Thanks again so much for your interest Kevin, much appreciated :)
