Lisa, I just logged on and need a minute to get my breath back…

OK, done. And now I’m gonna try to describe as best I can the emotions that are running through me as I slowly take this in.
First of all, this is an event for me cause though others have done digital takes on my portraits, nobody has ever drawn me by hand. So amazing new territory. It kinda reminds me of the first major league ballgame my dad took me to (Yanks v; Washington Senators… so now you know how long ago THAT was!). I knew it was gonna be awesome, but I didn’t grasp the scope of the awesomeness till I was actually in that massive stadium and heard the first crack of the bat hitting the ball and felt the surge of all those spectator’s emotions when the first run was scored. So yeah, this is a major event. It makes me high and I feel like a totally infamous celebrity, and it feels so totally cool!

But what MASSIVELY amazes me is how you, without knowing me but for a few brief encounters on RB, managed to capture so many facets of my character in one brilliant masterpiece. OK, the spikes are a no-brainer (way cool how you did that!), but the brick texture on the one cheek… I don’t easily let people in deep. Lots of texture on the surface, but what’s inside is heavily guarded. The blues and purples and greens below the facial tones is my fascination with the melancholy… while the twisted and entwining branches backed by the misty star-filled sky is my craving for dark fantasy that wraps itself around me and pulls me into the night. Wow. Those brief encounters were even more connective than I’d thought…

Then there’s the eyes… Their true color is the mask, the blue is the depth beneath into which I seek the answers I will probably never find. On a lighter note, the red round the eye is simply my chronic lack of sleep… and somehow,, whether you know it or not, you got the fish thing. I’ve got a thing about fish. One fish, two fish… practice fish… Think I’ll take a sample of what you’ve got around my eye and stick it on the back of my car so everyone will know I’m a Christian. Or at least someone who digs fish for dinner 

Lisa, your art has exposed me. Friends and family will now know just how DARK I really am. And it’s about time. As art is worth a gazillion words, you have written a book. And one way or another, this piece will hang in pride of place in the Sanctuary in which I am now confessing to you my adoration of your soul, your insight, and your awesome artistry….

Which brings me nicely to the one thing I’ve not yet mentioned. My mouth. It’s real. Cause there has to be some part of this picture through which I can thank you in deepest sincerity for making my millennium.

Massive hugs to you… and a big long lick right up yer face!!
    xo

  • funkyfacestudio replied

Oh Billy. I’m sorry I missed you. You are probably sleeping by now. I’m so happy that you like it! I sometimes worry that people will get creeped out when I turn them into some fantasy creature.
Billy …......you are not old and you are not dark…..............are you ? LOL but you are famous and I’m a big fan !
I enjoyed your comments immensely, you sure do have a way with words…...what more can I say ?
    .

Thanks for the lick, it was a wet one he he he.

This is a wonderful interpretation of Bill, you’ve hit the nail on the head. I love the small spot on the end of his nose which you’ve left pink, it’s adds a small comic relief to what is otherwise a very accurate depiction of Bill. I like that you left his “real” – he’s kissed the Blarney several times and Bill, without his mouth, would be lost for wards! Brilliant work.

  • funkyfacestudio replied

Thank you so much Clarkey….....BB “lost for words” ? ha ha ha

What an entertaining portrait. You’ve created a “funky” feel to it. Love the way you’ve entwined billyboy in the branch and stylized the image so strongly. Gives me a sense that billyboy is part rebel, part crazy man. : >) – with apologies to billboy. : >D Thanks for sharing it with us.

Those Blair Witch branches still scare the shit outa me…
    ¨.)

  • funkyfacestudio replied 29 days ago

Blair Witch branches ??? I thought Rhana had it right, the more and more I look at it, I think it looks like you are being attacked by gigantic chicken feet, Tell me the truth now…did you hang a sheet over this in your sanctuary ? I don’t want you to be too scared Billy lol xo

  • billyboy

    billyboy 29 days ago

Nope. But IT’s tried to hang a sheet over me several times…
And now you bring my attention to it again, they DO look like chicken feet. First thought yeah, leave it to Rhana to bring chickens into it… but it makes me wonder… do maybe YOU have a thing about chickens? Like I’ve had chciken with cucumber and the two like go really good together…

OK, I’m leading you away from the point here, which is… every time I look at the original hanging in my sacred space, which is a totally unhealthy number of times a day, it reminds me of how awesome you actually are Lisa. Solid gold embedded in shimmering crystal. I truly wish for scrumptiously beautiful things to happen for you for making me smile so many times.
    xo:-)

  • funkyfacestudio replied 11 days ago

Hahaha it tried to hang a sheet over you ? were you having a party in the sanctuary again ? I’m waiting for a champagne fountain :)
I DO have a thing for chickens, mostly with a side of cucumber and tomato with balsamic vinaigrette .
I wish I could say that my chicken feet branches were inspired by this but they weren’t….......I have no excuse lol
