Lights from a laser light show on July 4th in Southern California. The actual fireworks were canceled due to a fire advisory warning.

I love this image Future-Looks-Bright (did I get that right?) , could you please write in the comments section of this page how you went about making it? A suggestion – the large size image looks even better – maybe you could insert it into the comments, here.
    Cheers, Keith

  • Keith,
First of all, let me say “thank you” for checking out my work and for the great suggestion of inserting a preview of the larger image into the comment field.

And yes you got my account name right, but please call me Chris.

Now, about the image… it was taken at a laser light show on July 4th. I had taken my camera with me and prepared myself to take some pictures of fireworks, but they had the laser show going on instead due to a fire advisory warning in the area (one of the downsides of living in Southern California). The lights looked pretty much as you see them in the picture; the only thing that I did other than set the exposure time was frame the shot and press the shutter button.

Thanks for your reply Chris. A great shot. You make it sound simple, but at night one can never be confident how one’s attempts will work out. It is interesting the bleed of red color to the lower side of the blue. Have you tried exploring hidden detail in the ‘black areas’, using Photoshop?
    Regards, Keith
