the vagaries of slumber
recurrent dreams
the vagaries of slumber belongs to the following groups:
Melbourne & Victoria, Midnight Ramblers and The Red Writing RoomIn the morning I awake to feel you still tangled within me; a memory.
The tiny particles of night linger within the fibres of my vicious brunette hair.
Remnants of my dreaming.
I sweep yearning fingers across my lips to trace the stain.
You
are
gone.
I close my eyes and try to remember how it felt to kiss you
(some time between midnight and 7am)
I miss you
fading
again.
When will you leave my night?
Remember
I do
and
I don’t
want you to; stay or fade.

Oh my darling Nic, it would seem we are in a similar dream state, though mine is not a memory mine is a willing.

gretchen .
What a beautiful capture of the ins and outs of sucumbing to what calls us in sleep. xox

love the balancing act of your closing lines, Nicole! The whole piece seems to hint that you just might be coming down on the side of holding on to the memory of the dream. This is sooooooo real – we are such contrary creatures aren’t we…I do and I don’t. Great piece!

I’d be surprised if we haven’t we all felt this at some stage Nic, I love the way you’ve woven it to feel like a slow and deliberate hanging onto of that “only just awake state” and the dilemma remains…
