the finest brush

I was incredibly honoured to be asked to write a piece by one of my favourite visual artists Shanina Conway for a captivating and powerful image Butterfly Painter by Shanina Conway

I painted his wings
intricate sins of colour and love
yesterdays above; the places we flew
I always knew that you were forever
leaving
that’s the risk of love isn’t it?

Your guilded edges were pathways for me
enlightened
enticing
you; shimmering like a sunshine kiss
it’s all I know i’ll miss
enough to fly away.

In my hands falling fragile
I was born tame and tactile
you have changed; my eyes different
for a moment we’ll be flying
our life cycle; squared and dying
and what a gift it is.

    shimmering like a sunshine kiss
    so beautiful and lyrical.

Theres something very appealing about “tame and tactile” too, like I think I’d definitely prefer it to “wild and numb” or something LOL

    Nice florid, fresh writing!

You should collaborate with Alice White. She is doing a butterfly theme with her paintings. She is in my favorites. Check her out.
