Pith

That Mandarin you were holding
exploded in your hand
setting my senses alive
juicy you

you were a sticky little soul

seeping into the parts that mattered

all pips and pulp
so passionate.

You always reminded me of a stem
the centre of me
where the pith was hidden
rational and reasonable rind

I would never have stood up in those days
if it wasn’t for you.

Let me take that fruit from you now
I will wash those juices away
cleansing us both
of yesterday
leaving your glass empty
for another.

A very pithy poem… :-) Seriously, the way you use the single image of an orange, the handling of words – this is good!
