I threw it in the sea and it came back to me rusted and troubled. by PJ Ryan
PJ Ryan

I threw it in the sea and it came back to me rusted and troubled. by

You told me that you loved me
but I saw you running beside the sea
with her
hand in hand
toes in the sand
making memories out of nothing at all
It’s all I ever wanted

Would you dip yourself in my heart?

So I curled my salted hair
around my lingering fingers
and I cut myself on the rusted ring
from the sea
you gave me
nothing that mattered
more than this
that
everything
you gave me nothing
that I need.
