This Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) landed on a log full of turtles and took up fishing. After several minutes, the large bird spotted a large meal swimming among the lily pads. So intent on the fish, the heron used the turtles as stepping stones as it moved down the floating trunk. Some turtles, leaped into the water to avoid this fate. The disturbance, however, did not frighten off the fish. With a quick jab, the heron speared a large wriggling meal. After a quick swallow, followed by a drink, the bird quickly cleaned its feathers, looking very satisfied. Then the heron flew off.
