A female Anna’s hummingbird (Calypte anna) sips nectar from the blossom of a cherry tree. This tiny bird is barely three flower-breadths long, not including the beak.

  • Thank you, Rosej. This is one of two species of hummingbird that are generally found here. I had no idea that they fed from cherry blossoms until this encounter.
