Paddle-Tailed Darner in Flight by

This cheerful-looking paddle-tailed darner (Aeshna palmata) patrolled a large section of a lake at Beacon Hill Park in Victoria, BC. Occasionally, the large dragonfly would pause on its broad sweeps and survey a small area, especially near trees, probably seeking insects that may be in the vicinity.

  • Thank you much, Chuck. It took some patience (and thanks for your advice), and it paid off. These critters are truly a joy to chase around with a camera.
