Brilliant sunshine and muggy summer-time heat greeted the many tourists to Seattle on this early August 2009 afternoon. Traffic flows on the concrete double-decker Alaskan Way Viaduct, damaged in the 28 Feb 2001 Nisqually Earthquake and subsequently braced, visible in the background.
