The BCFerries vessel Spirit of Vancouver Island rounds a sharp corner between Galiano and Mayne Islands on a routine voyage. Ferries such as this carry many passengers and vehicles between mainland British Columbia and various coastal islands. Victoria, on Vancouver Island, is a common destination.

This photo taken from the deck of Spirit of British Columbia, heading in the opposite direction. Both of these large vessels passed very close in the narrow channel, a tight and dramatic squeeze.
