"May We Join You?" Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs

A pair of lesser yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) appear to be optimists as they head toward a log full of their greater yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) cousins. Perhaps the two lessers that are actually on little island gave the airborne hopefuls some encouragement. Reifel Bird Sanctuary, BC, 21 Sep 2009.

Thank you. These birds were fun to watch… The lesser yellowlegs made several attempts to land on the log, offering me a chance to get an in-flight image.
