Flame Trees

Flame Trees

New Years Eve 2006 found me on a farm out past Toowoomba, Australia, where we had the biggest bonfire I’ve ever seen! For this I was grateful, as even though it was summer it was unseasonably cold.

After enjoying the lighting of the fire I turned around to see the red light from the bonfire reflecting on these two trees, while the moon sat watch above.

This photograph inspired we to write the following short verse:

The trees stand watch.

Sentinels of the night.
Souls ablaze.
Forever vigilant.

Guarding the innocent sleep.
Healing the troubles of the mind.
Igniting the passions of the heart.
Whispering sweet dreams of comfort.

Standing always for the spirit of truth.
Accepting the perfection of what is.

Loving without question.
Giving without thought.
Laughing with youthful abandon.

Rest well. Be at Peace.

The trees stand watch. Always.
