Viva la France! A Mel Brackstone Image by

Oil on gessoed board, 18″×14″.
Many thanks to the wonderfully famous Mel Brackstone for her generosity in allowing me to use her image of ‘Jon and Mick’ in costume at the ‘History Alive!’ day, Queen’s birthday weekend, 2010, at Fort Lytton, Brisbane. Dressed in French infantry garb, they make a dynamic duo after Mel’s fantastic postwork on PS.
this is a preliminary photo of the painting, as it is still wet. When it dries and gets varnished I will post a better pic.

Absolutely top shelf artwork… they are indeed a dynamic duo… i can’t image it looking any better when it dries…
    AWESOME!!

  • many thanks again, Carol, it will be much better when it dries, all the glare will be gone and you will be able to see the feathers on his hat badge! This is about lifesize of the painting so you can tell what size brushes I had to use. cheers, ,m

Guess I should do the shameless self promotion thing, eh? Thanks again, Michael!

  • Yeah, why the hell not! This image really inspired me to paint it. In fact there are a couple more from that day which I would love to have a go at also……..incidently,I loved painting all the buttons and the brass plates on the hats, did you notice I gave him a cracked lense in his glasses; cheers, M
