Tap tap tippety tap.
Fingers on the keyboard.
A word here, a figure there.
Another report nearly done. Just a little more…
The great primal ape bears savage, yellowed fangs,
And screams frustrated anger into the air.
Pounding against great walls of regret,
Smacking against the ceiling of lost opportunities,
Rattling the smooth, silvery bars of civilised behaviour,
He cries in panicked anguish at irretrievable seconds dripping,
Wasted, into the dark pool of times past.
Straining, straining to reach just one.
To quench his terrible thirst.
Tap tap tappity tap.
Nearly done. Just a little more…
Life is so short. Who am I? What do I want? They seem to be the most important questions of all…
