St. Marks Square, Venice
This painting is watercolour on paper.
This is number nine in the series on Venice. I was struck by the contrast between the deep shadow of the arched colonnade and the square outside. And just a peek of the Basilica. As it was early morning, only a few people were about and lovely long shadows. I used just a few of the very many pigeons to lead the eye away, across the square.

Even if this were a photograph it would be a masterful shot due to its great composition (and I thought it was at first glance), but to be a watercolour with this kind of detail just amazes me. Freda, you set the standard so high – this is a masterpiece without question.
