It’s the simple things that bless us most
like our morning coffee with jam and toast
An early sunrise with the birds in song
or a favored tune for us to sing along
The kiss of the dew on the morning grass
takes me back in time to an early past
When life seemed simpler than it is today
there seemed to be time for childlike play
Remind me dear Lord to love you most
while I drink my coffee and eat my toast
Smelling a rose in the early dawn
enjoying the music of natures song
Especially now as days end is near
and I’m told that these are the golden years
Let me find great joy in the simple of pleasures,
like seeing the sunrise as a chest of treasure
Thank you Lord for all you’ve done
for the greatest of gifts your beloved Son
He’s given us reason to laugh and say
there’s still time left for childlike play
