Ingress and Egress - digital by

Composition-study for planned oil painting. Ingress and Egress, a proposed title, refers to the mental and spiritual state of affairs, where thoughts, emotions, instincts, and other things unseen, come and go from what we know as “the mind”.

This and Sybille in New York are my first digital artworks in a full year’s time, in which I’ve been painting only. They are both studys (or “comps”) for planned oil paintings on canvas. I hope you like them, as you may see them again. ;)

RE: All elements are my own, including but not limited to a scanned oil painting; scanned artist-study after Michelangelo’s Christ in Judgement for the Sistine Chapel; fractal parts; digitally brush painted strings, digital compositing, layering, blending, and lighting.

    Fractal parts!! Cool! Supersupersuper!!!
Lots of places to explore in this. And that face is wonderful!
Have you started the painting? Can’t wait to see!

  • Yes, fractal parts from Oxidizer, thanks for telling me about it. It limited the entire work to only 72 dpi, but at least I could go large scale with the canvas dimensions, as the fractals are only a small portion of the canvas. They are extended and connected with brush-drawing. Have not started the painting. Could be a while.

  • These two would be my first large canvases since I started oil painting. I’m glad you see them as large works, too, Linda. Now, to figure out how to make room….
