“Spring Fever” by F.A. Moore
Oil on Deep Canvas
10 × 8 inches
December 2011
Sold.

Portrait of adopted cats, Mitzy and Stuart. Mitzy, the gray female is emotionally dependent on Stuart. After a daughter, whose pets they were, graduated from college, her parents, ready to depart on a vacation, decided to give them up. The adoptive owner would not let them spend one night in a shelter, and loves them dearly. The owner has just given permission to sell the work as prints; so I am updating the file to reflect their availability, as of April 29, 2012.

This is wonderul Frannie! Love your colour choices! They look like best friends! A lovely and heartwarming image!

  • I snuggled them a little closer together, to get the composition right. Robin, thanks, I’m glad you like the color, too!

Lovely work Frannie! The ginger one reminds me of a stray that I feed. Love the look in their eyes.

  • Gosh, that stray depends on you. Sweet to hear, Sam. The female is shy and the ginger male more direct and confident and hopefully I was able to capture that in their eyes. Thanks so much for the feedback!

How beautiful :) I like the colors!

  • Thank you so much, Ellen! It was Winter when I painted this, and I was ready for Spring, too! Both cats have rich coloring, so it was a natural choice.

I have seen that look in my cat’s eyes. Perfect title and I can feel it here. This is great Frannie. I love the detail of the wall or ledge. You are starting to get a nice collection of animals going. I love the eyes on these cool cats.

    AWWWWWW!!! LOVE this! Instant fav!
    those faces! those paws!
Each cat is a separate personality, and together they make a perfect team.
I esp like the details (the cats and their surroundings) and how much contemplative energy you’ve shared with us!

  • Thanks, Robin. They were so cute. Between painting sessions, I sometimes discovered the painting knocked to the floor, from where it was hanging to dry. As it turns out, the female, who sat with me during some of the sessions, had reached up to paw at it and knocked it off its hanger. Amazing! She was quite a fan! I’m so glad you like it!

I love their expressive faces and the way youve highlighted them in their little palace!

  • Hi, Maria! I just logged back in and am delighted to read your comment. LOL, “their little palace”. I suppose they do like the royals on their balcony, eh? ;) Thanks so much for stopping by!
