Manda's World by

Oil Painting, channeling Amanda G. Wright, the artist, as a child dreamer. One of her canvases forms the backdrop.

Sfumato, a technique employed by Leonardo Da Vinci, notably in the Mona Lisa, was used to soften, especially, the separation between face and hair.

Frannie, this turned out so so wonderful. What a great feeling of comfort and contentment on her face. I really love that back ground so much. The sweep of the top of the building….I imagine her sitting at a cafe somewhere in Italy…..spending time with old friends. There is such a lovely soft feeling to her face. This is really my favorite piece of yours Frannie. WOW……so nice to see it finished. I was looking for it yesterday over at the WIP cafe……I guess I was off a day.
    What an awesome finish.
    Bravo!!!

  • My favorite piece, too, Elizabeth. Thank you. Actually I did post last night, the final WIP, which was this work. Just took a better photo this morning. You know the background is meant to represent her painting, Cityscape, although I extended the right side to make a wall. I’m so happy to pull this off, Elizabeth, I can’t tell you. Thanks again for the “Bravo!”.

    Frannie, this painting is wonderful!
The use of the tehnique is excellent. The colors, composition, mood and her expression (smile), are amazing! I could stay and look in her eyes for hours, and try to guess: what is she thinking about?…:)
    I love this piece!

  • Betty, I am so happy with your warm and sincere compliment. Thank you for making me feel great! I like the painting for the same things. It’s only and 8×8 canvas (deep though). It’s so cute, sitting on my desk easel, now.
