Was drawing (or painting, as the case may be) an abstract in oil pastels around midnight.
Just as I was satisfying myself with the smoothness of the pastels on the suede surface, and contemplating the abstract colors and lines, a cat crept into the work.
A nearby bluebird flew onto the canvas, too. I believe we’ve caught it in the act of chiding the cat. Or perhaps it fancies the plumbs in the pool.
By the time I added a signature, the cat’s whiskers had sunburned.
So much for “burning the midnight oils”.
Enjoy!

Reverberates with summer and warmth and fun and some mystery too!
LOVELOVELOVE the colors and how they dance with each other! Your cat is VERY cool…especially with that adorable birdie so close by!
Everything about this is super, Frannie!
Not just the luscious colors and how luminous they are (like lights shimmering off water) but also how the composition moves so gracefully from one element to the next.
I’d applaud but I don’t want to disturb the cat.
PS: the title rocks!
Robin, I am now just taking some time to read the comments on the work, and have to say I especially appreciate yours, and the time you took to survey the scene, and give me direct feedback. I feel as if you have described the very things of which I’m proud of achieving in this piece. Thank you so very much for that gift.
