Abstract-impressionist painting depicts ‘Stari Most’, the beautiful ‘Old Bridge’ in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, on the Neretva River.
The Old Bridge, built by 16th century Ottomans, was among the many casualties of the bombings, in the late 20th century’s Bosnian War. With international funding, it has since been rebuilt, dedicated in July 2004. The original design was by Hajrudin, a student of Mimar Sinan, the most esteemed architect of the Ottoman empire.
