Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…
I am very excited to have my art selected to exhibit in SoJie 19. SoJie 19 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. 91 other artists, besides myself, have human figurative art or photography in the show.
Winners of the invitational will be announced on October 2nd, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, in addition to special judges’ awards, will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.
Non members, as well as members, ARE welcome to view all of the work nominated. So I hope that you will click the show banner, above, and follow the link to view my fellow exhibitors. The works are shown “gallery size” and are beautiful, seen together.
If you do not belong to the group, Solo Exhibition, you cannot participate in commenting; and joining to comment is not encouraged. But you CAN lend support by commenting in my journal, here, about the show.
THIS JOURNAL IS ALSO PART OF A WEB RING. You can congratulate other artists involved, by clicking on the WEB RING BADGE below. You don’t need to be a member of Solo Exhibition to show your support, this web ring is especially for non members! Thank you!

I want to thank Mel Brackstone for placing trust in me, in order to facilitate my oil painting, translation of her photograph. It was fun and I discovered a style that I really like, in this work.
My sincere appreciation also goes to Jane Brack, who also allowed me to reference her photograph of her children, exhausted, and lounging on top of a historical marker. I had an idea to put them on a roof, “catching stars”.
Each artist could only have one work in this show, since it is such a big one already. Here is my oil, referencing Jane’s children!

Oh I love how this one came out Frannie and I love seeing them side by side. What a fantastic painting this turned out to be and what a WONDERFUL workshop. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YAY….The web ring is OPEN!!!!!!
Yay, we’re open! It’s fun to see them side by side, I think, too. It highlights how one can use the subject of a photograph as a reference and jumping off point, but still create a work that is uniquely one’s own. Thanks, Elizabeth!

I like your translation, Frannie! The way you use those colors ennobles them, and give them a personal air.
Good luck on Sojie 19!!!
Many thanks, Dorina for the wonderful comment.

Both of your oils were so, so beautiful Frannie! I wish they could both be in the show; I adore those little children!! The final is so expressive and beautiful; very French, in my opinion. ;) Tres Belle.
Thank you, Lily, for this sweet and wonderful comment.
