The model’s eyes are incredible, aren’t they. The shape and size are like something out of this world. When I was thinking about what face to put among these waterborn flowers, I remembered hers in my stock stash. And after she was in there, the title came to mind. So “Milly” very much was meant for this artwork.

Of course you know how to do this; because you have been working in layers now for a while. That along with my 5 min blending videos and you’re there. Thank you though. I think the choosing of elements is critical, like the ingredients of a recipe.

In this case, the flowers and the “pond” came first. I had published a smaller fantasy type work with them about a year ago, well before I began to upload on RB. For this piece, I took out the fantasy stuff in the scene and considered publishing it just as the flowers. Then I thought, why not add the reflection of a face looking at itself in the water. This artwork came about through that process. And I am pleased with the beauty of it. The addition of “Milly” allowed the flowers to be part of a larger concept. Neither would be effective without the other. Thanks, Robin.

Same process. We just go with what we like at the time when we’re working on it. In this way, I think digital is the same as painting; there is spontaneity. It’s just that you might see that oddball thing and think it’s cool and go after it; while I will go after something else that I particularly like. For instance, I ended up redefining my reflection concept, once I started working on the face at higher opacities and saw how I liked it, because it leaves the viewer to decide about “Milly”. Indeed, knowing you, you might have taken off on the eye. But that’s what makes artists unique—their particular vision. Thanks for your input, Robin.
