Dancing Poppies by FranEvans

Photographic Prints

Available to buy on…

Just another poppy painting. Lot’s of thin layers of paint to build up the depth of colour. I applied the different layers of colours on the canvas rather than mix them on the palette. For example, the darkest shadows on the petals were achieved by painting a thin coat of blue and then following with red. This was painted using just five colours. cadmium red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine, yellow ochre and burnt sienna.
Acrylic on canvas. 50 × 40 cms. Original for sale.

poppies, red, blue, green, yellow, flowers, floral, coquelicots, acrylic, franevans, petals, leaves

This is soooo beautiful, Fran…..I love it. The colors & composition are perfect…..the painting has such a happy feel to it. I like the touches of red peeking out of the buds!

  • That’s a lovely comment Marsha! How’s your poor wing?
