Mug shot of a Bay horse. I’ve painted full bodies before, but never a close-up face. This painting is acrylic on canvas and has about forty thin layers of paint to give it the depth. It took a long time, but I think it was worth it. From a free photo library image on Wetcanvas.com. 40 × 50 cms on stretched box canvas (or chassis, in French).

Absoltely stunning, Fran….this ol’ boy just glows!!!

  • Thanks so much Marsha! He doesn’t quite glow this much in real life. The yellow ochre background isn’t as pronounced, but I couldn’t find a way to tone it down on photo editor! It just came out that way!

This is beautiful work Fran. I don’t think I would have the patience for 40 layers!

  • Neither did I! I was going mad! I hope you are managing with the floods. Sounds awful!!!!

My home is safe from the floods, but the search still goes on in our beautiful Lockyer Valley for the missing.

  • I’m sending positive thoughts and wishing as hard as I can!!!!
