This imposing chateau on a hill, not far from where we live, was completed in the 12th century and has really had to defend itself. It’s in the Charente region of France.
Its been occupied by the English, bombarded by canon. Taken by the protestants and then the catholics, damaged during the French Revolution. It’s been a garrison, a school, a prison and is now privately owned. Apparently the owner still lives in part of it. Acrylic on canvas 38 × 46 cms. Original Sold.
