The Boonah Road

The Boonah Road

Info for the 101 group;
Shot late morning (not the best time of the day I admit) 70MM,f25, speed lost as it’s been through the Photoshop mill.
Loads of techniques used, but one that can make a difference if you like the texture look.
Take a pic of textures you see, such as brick walls,concrete is a goodie, crumpled paper etc and drop them on to your image within photoshop. Fiddle around with the blend modes and your will be surprised at the results.

To darken images I often apply a new layer, then edit/fill/50% grey and set the layer blend mode to Overlay. I then grab a Soft brush with foreground colour set to black and an opacity set to between 3-5% and paint away. The idea is to darken parts of the image so that the lighter bits guide the viewer thru the image. They did this in the dark room days and called it Burning. You can also duplicate the layer and use the Burn tool for much the same effect with a choice of what you wish to effect: Highlights,Midtones or Shadows.

    love it when so-called muted colours come alive and this is what this does – the lighting is wonderful and that tree and clouds are amazing.
