Promised Land

Free
From inner struggling
And the search for eternal bliss
Free
From the endless heartache
Of never again feeling her kiss

Free
From my inhibitions
And from my poisoned mind
Free
From the tireless struggle
That it is as one of mankind

Free
From the endless torture
And the slavery of the daily grind
Free
From my constant battles
With the paradoxes of my mind

Free
From the lure of the bottle
And the need to wrestle control
Free
From the twisted pleasure
I take from living in a hole

Free
From my expectations
And the wanting for another kind
Free
From the constant disappointment
Of being the one who is left behind

With this gun against my forehead
And the razor blade in my hand
As I lay down in the bath tub
I’m off towards the promised land

I’m off towards the promised land

I like the matter of fact feel of the poem. Very nice Fozman. I also really like the repetition of the last line.
