“But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.”
― Pablo Neruda
Inspired by the Dinotopia books, and other things…
I’ve been researching and collecting numerous public domain images of 19th century paintings, and scientific illustrations. So many of their details are rich and captiving! I’ve been intrigued with the notion of combining them with photomanipulation, and have done so in small ways with other works. This, however, is the largest I’ve done to date. CARL WERNER is one of the Orientalist artists that I’ve sampled, along with a few others that I’ve spent hours hunting down. That, combined with an elephant from Wikimedia Commons, some of my own imagery, some hand painting, and some brushes from the lovely autumnsgoddess.deviantart.com gives you what you see here.
