A photograph I took of an actual piece I created out of a tiny teacup from Japan, a page from a vintage copy of Midsummer Night’s Dream, a wee little mouse, a hummingbird feather, and an antique Japanese(?) stamp.
The entire thing is house in a wooden box with a glass top. A hole was drilled in one end, so the box becomes – in effect – a ‘peep show’, or diorama. This was made as a gift for my dear friends Angi and Silas.
I have so much to catch up on here on RedBubble. Your comments are all so appreciated!!
Fantastical! Whimsical! Delightful! Wonder what adventures will unfold for this little character. Excellent work Aimee…..lovely to see you back posting…..xoxo
Thank you dear Cos! He is an intrepid little fellow, sailing off on a sea of clouds!
I meant to add something about your side note……very inspirational. I meet once a month with a group of artists to discuss art projects that we collab on (and imbibe a ‘teeny’ bit of red wine in the course of the night) and it’s great to see works of your creativity. xoxo
Oh that sounds like so much fun! Wish I could actually be there for one of those evenings!
I will post a few pictures of the box he lives in. The inside was painted sky blue with clouds, and I used cotton balls all stretched out to form 3D clouds around the cup, then up on the glass top. I hung tiny paper stars from the clouds, and then stained and collaged the outside of the box to make it look very antique and aged.
My grandmother used to make me these kinds of dioramas when I was a kid, out of shoeboxes! Only then we would use tiny people cut out of magazines, and would put wax paper or tissue paper over the top of the box to let light filter in. So it was a trip down memory lane to do it with something like this. She would have adored it!
Amy I so loved and adored seeing this from many perspectives last month Goddess woman I MISS YOU MY SISTER. What a perfect gift that made it was so very fitting! <3 love you lady
Thank you sweet Wonderland sister!! <3 I miss you too!! Can’t wait til the next time we can spend time daydreaming and ballyhooing together!
