The Pirates of Cannon Beach by

otherwise known as… Parley Cove ;)

My husband and I travel to Cannon Beach every year, and I have been going since I was 16. I’ve always wished I could see a pirate ship sailing through the waters there…or anchored just off shore. And now, I have! ;)

Oooh, I’ve been there once only, is that Haystack Rock? This is perfect, and I didn’t know about the pirates! Arrrrrr! (first comment dance)

  • That is indeed Haystack Rock! That place is a real touchstone for my creativity. In fact, I think I could safely say it sparked the wildfire of my imagination the first time I ever set foot on that beach at 16 years old. Been back at least once a year, if not more…every year since then. Even honeymooned there! It is such a magical spot… there is a very tangible ‘feeling’ there whenever I go. I’ve never felt it anywhere else.

Now I shall go look for peglegs washed up on the beach. LOL

Just a perfect setting for pirates now that you mention it! I love it there. Lived nearby for many years and visit every summer. I’ll be looking for the wreck of that ship next year!

  • Oh how wonderful that you were able to live near there!! It is a five hour drive for me…though that doesn’t seem far, I’m used to it now. lol My brother lives in Tillamook – and my sister lives in Tualatin, so we have lots of reasons to head down that way throughout the year.

I can just imagine pirates sailing in there, and being spied on from Ecola park. :D

A beautiful image and I love your flights of fancy. I, also love Cannon beach and the Oregon coast. My very favorite place is Nye Beach and would simply love to retire there.

  • Ohhh Nye Beach is beautiful! Every stop along that stretch of the coast is just so gorgeous. Once a few months have gone by, I literally yearn to get back there. People wonder why my hubby and I go back year after year… but they just don’t understand how truly wonderful it is. It would be such a dream to wind up there some day!

Thank you for the lovely compliments!!
