The Articulator
“Mr Wegg, if you was brought here loose in a bag to be articulated, I’d name your smallest bones blindfold equally with your largest, as fast as I could pick ‘em out, and I’d sort ‘em all, and sort your vertebrae, in a manner that would equally surprise and charm you.” – Mr. Venus, Articulator – from the book Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens

It’s so true. Everyone needs an Articulator in their lives, in order to sort and combine whatever stray bones they might have lost along the way…heheheh

Thank you Leanne! This is one of those ones that was a real labor of love. I’ve always adored that quote by Charles Dickens about the Articulator… and I had taken the photo of the old abandoned house. So when I found the great stock photo of the bird, it just all came together. :D

That’s one of the Dicken’s novels unread yet…i’ll have to give it a go…..

I really did Adam! I had been wanting to do something special with the abandoned house shot I took a few weeks ago. I also had been wanting to create something based on that Dickens quote. Once I saw the bird…well, it all fell into place…heh!
Thank you so much for the compliment!

Thank you Thomas – and yes, you should read Our Mutual Friend! It is really a delight. The Boffins, the Articulator…so many characters, and all so unforgettable! There are a few more ideas I have to make artwork that is inspired by things in his book, and this one in particular.. :)

When I was in my thirties I made a point to read quite a few of Dicken’s novels….Thelast being recent…a rereading( or was it the first ) of the Tale of Two Cities….So far Oliver Twist and Great Expectations are two of my favorites!

Oh those are so wonderful!! My absolutely favorite so far is David Copperfield. What an epic! Some of my favorite quotes come from that one.
My hubby and I had the wonderful priviledge of visiting the Dickens Museum in London, which is in the townhouse he lived in when he wrote Oliver Twist. Such an amazing place to wander around and imagine him conjuring up all these familiar and beloved characters!

I envy you that opportunity! Thanks for sharing it.
