A letter to my RB Friends

Dear Friends and those that missed me :)

Just wanted to say a brief Hi and an apoligy for not being on RB for such a long time, but I have been in Hospital for the last 5 months and only just got home. Also wanted to say a special Thank you to one RB friend who has been so supported whilst I was in Hospital and I love them to bits. You know who you are and I happily post your name here, if you snet me a Bubblemail to say it is OK.

Fate through me another curve ball and I was diagnosed in May with a cancer on the Spine and spinal cord, which has left me disabled and I can not walk or even master the stairs. Meaning I am locked in my Apartment. When people talk about the beautiful weather, sounds and smells of Summer, all I have is to go to my window and the memory of summers past.

I am still getting Chemo therapy, probably to the end of October/November, and just hope for small remission from this apparent aggressive cancer.

I find it hard, not to stroll through the forests and listen to the sounds and enjoy the smells. Listening to the clicking of my camera, with a fast heart beat when I thought I caught something special. Although as all you wildlife photographers know, is not an easy task getting a great shot every time, unless you own and live in your own wildlife reserve.

My life has been turned upside down, but I will let this “nasty thing” get the better of me, but maybe posting some older shoots of everything not just wildlife on RB, that I think hs the quality worthy of RB publication, will make the withdrawal from photography initially not so difficult

Maybe, just Maybe I will get another little chance in life to be able to take up photography of wildlife again and just get a few more shots out. Enjoy the smell of the New Forest in Hampshire, UK. Maybe even being able to travel as far as Constable country or Slimbridge in/ near Gloucestershire, but that is stretching it a bit…lol Well a girl can dream right? lol

I may not be able to answer any comments you may make on my work, or answer and bubblemail at hyper speed, but I will come on-line when pain management allows me too.

I love you all and thank you from the depth of my heart for all you support whilst I have been on RB and all your wonderful comments which I deeply cherished.

My heart is with all of you

so sorry to learn about your heath issues. I can relate to the feelings as I underwent in 2011 a major open heart surgery and it took me months before I could slightly resume my photographic explorations. my best wishes go to you in hope of a significant betterment as soon as possible.

  • Francis, your kind words have touched me in such times and I will draw from the strength you have shown with your own suffering

Sorry to hear your news I sincerely wish you a speedy recovery and my best wishes :)

  • Thank you Franco, for your kind thoughts, but sadly a total recover is likely not going to happen. I can only hope of hoping for a max lifespan of 5 years from now, if I am really lucky.. It does not matter if these short years, no matter if it is going to be one or five if they hold some quality and the love and support of my friends and not so friendly people I know :)

I just emailed you. I’ve been off RB for a long time and just recently posted a few images. You’ve been on my mind so many times over the year. I thought I would see you on FB. I kept thinking I wanted to check in with you and now .. to hear this. I’m devastated. I hope to hear from you soon …
