Taken at Gigrin Farm, Wales on a freezing cold and very wet day. i was the only photographer there on that day, not surprisingly.
Gigrin Farm has been appointed back in the 70’s by the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) to continue feeding the declining red-tailed Hawks. At the time thre were only about 4 living in Wales, due to the mass destruction of the birds, back in the 30’s by the UK government order, and then later by continue shooting and poising by farmers, game keepers and blood sports hunters.
The farm, which is a working far, used to feed the birds with offal or dead sheep and since then they come daily to the farm for their feed up. Thanks to Gigrin Farm we now have a healthy population of Red tailed Hawks back in Britain and it is estimated that about 400 of these amazingly beautiful birds come to the farm.
