Taken at the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey, UK.
I quite like the BWC, as they provide a natural environment with plenty of roaming space for the foxes in their care. They can dig their earths and are successful breeders. Most of the Foxes where either found on roadsides, injured, or as cubs were the mother was killed.
It is one of the very few Zoos I have some respect for.
She’s beautiful. We have a family of red foxes living near our orchard. They eat what pears fall from the tree.
Thank you, she is handsome.
Yes they eat fruit, if nothing else is available, but they rather prefer, something meaty if available, otherwise roots, berrys and fruit will have to do.
Gorgeous shot. I was out trying to get the fox again last night :) To no avail though as usual. I did manage to see one at dusk, but it popped back into the bushes before I could get close enough. They only really come out after dark around here – which is pretty useless.
I know the feeling about missing shots with foxes, I have the same problem with some wild roe deer I encounter now and again on my way home from work. I have a number of shots, which were taken at dusk, where two foxes where fighting over territory, but the light was poor, shutter speed slow, so did not get a good clear shot.
