Avocet belogn to the wading bird family and are approx 15 to 18 inches long. Breeds in shallow brackish lagoons and also near estuaries.
This one was captured in Norfolk coast and had a nest nearby. I was some considerable distant away in order not to disturb the animal and possibly leave the nest.
She was quite happy and not disturbed at my presence crouching between some high grasses.
My body or rather walking language was always n of passing or moving away rather than towards or predatory. She was quite comfortable with my presence and returning to her eggs, until…… some Neanderthal had to drag a fishing tackle trolley just a few feet away from the nest, although I tried to warn him of teh nesting birds location.

What a cool birdie…great shot too, good clarity and the background is just blurred out enough…she is purdy!!! I never saw one of those before…well done :-)
They are rather cool, they used to be quite wide spread in the UK, but now we have a only a few breeding pairs around the country.
Like everything Man manages to destroy everything.

Beautiful wildlife capture.
Many thank Tanya. It was quite a difficult shot to take. Te light began to fade and I did not have my tripod. Making the beak stand out from the background was not easy task either.
I am glad you liked it

Nicely captured.
Great shot, we have Avocets too, but a very much different color. I’ll have to dig one out of the archives and post it.
Yes I love to see your shot. They are a protected specie in the UK

Yes they are a beautiful bird. Thank your for leaving your comment
They have become an endagnered specie in the UK, because to many egg collectors are robbing their nest or so called walkers with their dogs trampeling of their breeding grounds
