Regency Splendour by

These regency houses in Palmeira Square offer a wonderful view of he sea and tell a tale of a bygone era of splendour during the reign of Georve IV and Prince Regent.

The houses where originally built around the 1830’s and are part of an an estate bought in 1830 by Baron Goldsmid, founder of University College, London. (He was also a Portuguese noble, with the title Baron de Palmeira – hence the name of the square).
location: Palmeira Square, hove, Sussex, England

Typical grand architecture of the British seaside, CJ! Love the light on this and the lovely clouds – bit sunnier than today!

  • Hi Krys, thanks, I love the architecture, much nicer than the steel and concrete monsters replacing them. Regency and Victorian architecture still looks beautiful and lass over time, whilst many modern architecture fades and starts looking like a ghetto.

Yuk weather today, I am going shrooming tomorrow.

    Lovely artchitectural capture and light

  • Thank you Barry, I love this architecture too. It still looks beautiful today, unlike its modern counterparts that are being erected everywhere.

Sadly our local councillors are all corrupt, as they take favours from developers who do not care about ehtics, beauty or longivity
