Googong Dam storage is the largest of 4 water supply storages serving the cities of Canberra and Queanbeyan. Many years of drought had seen storage levels fall drastically, but the rains came in November-December 2010 and these storages are now all overflowing
Some 10,500 cubic metres per second (about four times the normal flow over Niagara Falls) flows over the newly renovated spillway after heavy rain on 9 December – refer The Canberra Times

Werner good capture must be a sight to see, im interested in checking out some dams on my way down south
thanks Philip – re visiting our dams, access is severely restricted to Googong and Cotter because they are construction sites and access to Corin and Bendora may be restricted for (it seems) arbitrary administrative reason(s)

Wow thats a lot of water!!! Great capture.
thanks Luis – more than I’ve prevously ever seen over that spillway, however, this rock fill dam made history as it was overtopped by a major flood during its construction and survived
