This present St. Paul’s Cathedral was built during 1915-19, although finances had allowed only for the construction of the nave plus a temporary chancel from materials from the old St Paul’s. The new chancel designed along modernist lines by EJ McCoy was constructed during 1966-71 ref
The cathedral is registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a Historic Place – Category I
