Looking back from a jet boat heading downstream along the Dart River, New Zealand. The close mountain to the right is Mt Albert. Mt Earnslaw is hidden behind the high mountain range. Under normal flow conditions the river runs as a number of shallow, narrow and often intersecting channels that wind through a wide gravel bed. The wind sweeps the dust of past glacial activity from the dry sections of this river bed..
