San Francisco Giants Street Mural by

This has been up for many weeks since the SF Giants won again the World Series. It’s a gorgeous piece of street art, done over two days by local muralists. This is the street boarding seen by decades of passerbys of what was once the Palace Theater. When I was a wee lad, I went to this theater often but the one movie I remember most was the screening of The Beatle’s A Hard Day’s Night. I was perhaps in the middle of the theater floor and surrounded by jumping screaming girls of all shapes, sizes and color. I don’t remember much of the movie but I do know one thing: I didn’t hear a word or note of music of the movie! It was non-stop screaming… perhaps that’s why I still have this also nonstop ringing in my ears (really!) that keeps me awake nights. This memory I have of the old Palace Theater will last forever long after the abandoned building disappears from sight. Stitched of three images and I only removed the tiny white fire hydrant that sits about where the upraised arm is – just lower of course! Look carefull at the top of the mural and you can see the mural edges against the building. Rest in Peace Palace Theater. You were a dear and familiar friend and memory of my North Beach childhood.
