I was boarding a San Francisco tour boat and noticed one of the guests carrying flowers. Very solemn face but I didn’t bother this individual. Later on the boat it rained though the day prior it was blazing hot and sunny in the Bay Area. I stopped by to ask the reason for the flowers…. the answer was to honor an old friend who passed away some years prior. I was getting emotional too just listening to this. I asked if when this tribute to the friend was done, if I could snap some pictures. No problem… We neared the bridge and I was there early in case the flowers were released. The boat turned to come back into the bay ~ a slight hesitation, then there they went.. flying, falling and then in the boat’s wake… floating then out of sight. When I look back, I still consider it an honor to be allowed into this very personal private moment. I had focused on the individual then kept firing as the flowers were released…. and one of the many that were within my soul was this one. An one-chance shot out of the many I got ~ this moves and chills me still when I look at this image and recall the memory. Thanks for allowing me to capture this special moment…. I will cherish it as you do.
