this was recorded during Semana Santa celebrations in Rota, Spain. processions of nazarenos of the different church brotherhoods take place daily leading up to easter Sunday. i love the details of this religious event, and the candles are always a favorite of mine. i am fascinated by the flame, and i try to snap the flame while some nazareno stands quietly holding the candle, some measuring up to three feet long! stepping up to the candle and focusing on the flame i TRY to capture the light you see here. i can imagine this seems a strange and humorous scene if you were there also, watching me while i try to capture that candle flame, seeing the camera move slowly back and forth following the movement of the flame. this was captured in an unposed scene, on the street with wind and motion all playing factors in the creation of this image
