had the pleasure of going on a tour of the building that is called the San Francisco City Hall, which is truly gorgeous. the climax of the tour wasn’t the end BUT actually getting to go inside the dome itself, which is basically two layers. if you were to stand inside on the ground floor and look UP, you’d see one “complete” dome but are actually looking at two layers. this image was achieved only after climbing a very steep narrow ladder, then taken holding with one hand a very heavy DSLR with a wide-angle lens fortunately, with my other hand holding on to a thin rail with the other, and wishing i had exercised my arms more in the past! the spot had me sitting on a very thin steel rail too. i understand with the budget cuts the tours have been discontinued… :-(
