Captured this guy on the anchor of my fiancee’s little fishing boat 26-Jun-2010, Canton, New Jersey, USA, Nikon D90, 105 mm Sigma Lens, Corel Paintshop Pro 3.
Wow, i do, too. This is an incredible close up Kim, Wow. Such a handsome Dragonfly he (or she) is. in one of my stories i have a Dragonfly as a Detective
Nice closeup. It’s a Sympetrum (darter in the UK) of some kind, probably a female, judging by the colouration and what appears to be a lack of secondary genitalia.

It could be an Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum), but I’m not familiar with North American dragonflies.
