    Nice closeup. It’s a Sympetrum (darter in the UK) of some kind, probably a female, judging by the colouration and what appears to be a lack of secondary genitalia.

    It could be an Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum), but I’m not familiar with North American dragonflies.
