Sad Eyes by

Captured this burrowing owl on May 5, 2010 in Cape Coral, Florida, USA on an outing with kathy s gillentine Virginia N. Fred and to my suprise Gouzelka

This is a baby. I didn’t know there was such a thing as burrowing owls. “True to its name, the Burrowing Owl nests in a hole in the ground. Although it is quite willing to dig its own burrow, it often uses one already provided by prairie dogs, skunks, armadillos, or tortoises.” reference

There are several of these burrows in Cape Coral and the species is protected.

Photo taken with a Nikon D5000, 70-210 mm Nikkor lens, focal length 210mm, f5.6, ISO 200, autoexposure 1/125, postwork crop and fade correction in Corel Paintshop Pro 3. Uploaded 5-15-10
