Today I’ve been feeling a bit distracted today, not quite willing to do much everything. Recently I’ve tried a few new ideas for some photos, using very little money :)
One idea was themed on Tetris ( the videogame) which hasn’t come out quite as good as I was hoping. I printed out and folded lots of Tetris like cubes, and used oodles of glue to stick them all together. The general idea was that the Tetris cubes would cast shadows upon each other to generate the desired effect. Anyway, last night I tried to photograph my paper monster and it didn’t quite work! In fact it looks quite quite terrible. Still I shall return to this idea another day.
Still, Plan B appears to work OK. I wanted to express something different to my usual thing. I built a rig using bundles of spare cardboard (left over from the new kitchen build) and lots and lots of orange duct tape and masking tape (when the duct tape ran out). I found a background photo and off I went. The idea that the end effect would be a tiny bit seedy and dirty, and demonstrate (or at least try to demonstrate) the idea of “obsessions”. which was to some extent halfway the point of the magnifying glass.
Anyway, when I have some more ideas, I’ll try those as well, on top of the “business as usual” tasks of finding nice places to go in the UK to go and photograph.
I’ve also been wandering around the local area, and the local grotty shopping center for some random photography with my newly acquired Olympus Pen-S half format film camera ( I think the camera itself is over 40 years old..??). Which is ideal for quick photographs of people before they notice.
