" Fall Migration "

Migrating Snow & Blue Geese in Saskatchewan,Canada.

My wife and I were returning to Kenora, Ontario from Medicine Hat , Alberta when we came upon this sight. I had for a number of years hoped that I would someday have the opportunity to photograph snow geese against a storm sky in the prairies and suddenly there it was!
The trip occurred a number of years ago so I can’t recall the exact location. I can say that it was along the Trans Canada highway and quite likely west of Regina.
The photo was taken with a Minolta SLR and a Sigma 400 mm telephoto lens.

Congratulations on your feature in the Saskatchewan group. They are later this year than most…but witnessing the geese migrating south is a sight to behold in some areas of the province.

Thx very much for the Feature Heath ! I feel the same way as you do about the prairies. It’s a must for me to make at least one trip out your way every fall. This particular image hangs prominently on my family room wall.

Isn’t it a wonderful experience to have witnessed? You have an awesome photo! I can relate… I got to photograph a “Ontario Birds records” last winter… 50,000+ migrating through the area. Talk about noisy… see – www.redbubble.com/people/digitallystill/art/2699200-3-with-50-000-snow-geese-can-you-see-the-farm
